"Taking lessons at the Academy of Music and Art not only developed my musical ability and opened my eyes to all types of music, but it allowed me to have fun the entire time. I looked forward to going to my lesson every week to work with my teacher and learn from the very best in a great environment."S. Arvis Hinsdale, IL
How To Get The Most From Practicing
Commitment- Daily practice is essential to your success. Set aside the same time everyday for practicing. Many students find it helpful to have a place set up for practice. Have everything set up, your music and lesson plan out and ready to go. Be sure to pick a place away from the computer and TV!
Time - Set aside 30 to 60 minutes to practice everyday. Just like when you practice a sport you need to allow time to warm up, review fundamentals, practice new material and have time to experiment.
Persistence - The best practice advice ever: Don't quit!
Focus- It's hard (if not impossible) to learn more than one thing at a time. You will learn much faster if you focus on learning one thing at a time.
Have Fun - Don't forget that playing music is supposed to be fun.
