Class Descriptions Pop Star High School Musical and TV shows like “Shake it Up” have inspired a generation of kids to sing and dance. Pop Star Dance combines dance and voice with the latest age appropriate popular music. You will develop your confidence, musicality, coordination, and self-expression. There are 3 levels: juniors (ages 5 - 6), beginners and intermediate. Junior and Beginner levels are entry level classes. No prior experience in dance or voice is required. Dancers usually enroll in Ballet and Broadway Bound too. Broadway Bound This is a great class for singers and dancers who want the entire musical package. A combination of dance, voice, and theatre, you learn choreography, songs, and scenes from Broadway musicals. You are able to improve stage presence and character. No prior experience in dance or voice is required. There are 2 levels: beginner and intermediate.Beginner is an entry level class. No prior experience in dance or voice is required. Our preschool dance classes are divided by age; (2) (3 - 4) (4 - 5) & (5 - 6).
First Steps Your 2 year old is introduced to dance at a very basic level. Using Creative Movement, you discover coordination, balance, and listening skills while interacting with other children.
Little Ballet You will be inspired to express yourself through movement. You learn in a way that makes discovering movement, balance and listening skills easy and fun. You will memorize simple exercises and sequences that prepare you for classes taken in the years to come. Ages 3 – 5
Little Hip Hop This is your introduction to hip-hop. You will learn the basics of counting music, rhythm and sequences of steps. You will enjoy exploring your own personal expression to the latest age-appropriate music! Ages 3 – 5
Little Tap You have a musical instrument on your feet! You will learn patterns, control and coordination of the metal taps on your tap shoes. You incorporate this musicality into tap steps. Ages 3 - 5
Ballet Ballet is the foundation of all forms of dance. Ballet develops grace, flexibility, balance, alignment, and strength. Ballet combines the enjoyment of movement, expression and sensitivity to music along with discipline. It is also abasis for gymnastics and skating. There are 3 levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Classes are usually taken for 1 - 2 years.
Hip Hop This is one of the most popular classes in the school. Students will learn the latest new dance moves. Hip Hop allows a student to move freely and funky. This class will enhance a dancer's energy and enthusiasm for dance. The focus is on building the basics including counting music, memorization of sequences, choreography and exploring rhythm through the use of the body. There are 3 levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Classes are usually taken for 1 - 2 years.
Lyrical You will combine your ballet and contemporary dance techniques with lyrics of songs. You will become more aware of your own personal expression within your dancing.
Contemporary If you like “So You Think You Can Dance” then you will love our Contemporary Dance class! Contemporary dance infuses ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, jazz, and modern. This unique style allows freedom of personal expression and creativity.
Tap Get out your tap shoes! You will use your feet like drums; creating rhythmic patterns and beats. You will focus on learning single tap steps and combinations allowing you to learn musicality, rhythm, control and coordination. There are 3 levels: Little Tap for ages 3 to 5, Tap I and Tap II
Contemporary/Hip-Hop This is your chance to learn more complex choreography and become a more versatile dancer. You will experience more personal exploration of creative concepts. To enroll in this class you must have a strong technical foundation.
Performance Skills This is a fun class for students who want to get more serious about dancing and developing their abilities. The class is more technically challenging than our usual dance classes. Students will learn longer dance combinations, work on their technique and understand more complex movements. Dancers will learn more advanced dance techniques including: Leaps • Turns • Jumps • Intricate Choreography Not for everyone - Because Dance Company member are required to enroll in this class, there will only be 2 or 3 openings for students who are not in Company.
Dance Company If you are interested in performing opportunities and experiencing dance competitions you can audition for our Dance Company. Company auditions are held in October. The season runs November through June. Dance Company has a high level of commitment. Members are required to take company ballet and performance skills in addition to rehearsal times. Reserve your spot at the office for our Dance Company audition and you will be invited to an informational meeting.
